Welcome to

Where decades of Guyanese heritage meet sustainable innovation. One of the Caribbean’s longest-standing coconut producers, rooted in a legacy since its colonial-era beginnings.
We started with only five coconut seed bins. We could only afford 1,500 seed nuts. Today, we have 10 nurseries across the country producing 206,000 seedlings annually.
From an initial target of 3,000 acres, Guyana’s coconut cultivation now spans over 32,639 acres—thanks in large part to seed nuts from COHIBRA, which have exceeded 100,000 in number to date.Ricky Roopchand, Managing Director of the Hope Coconut Estate
Hope Coconut Industries Limited (HCIL) offers a wide range of agricultural products sourced from its diversified operations at Hope Estate.
As a well‑known leader in coconut production, HCIL also serve as a major boost for local farming and export value‑addition initiatives.
Hope Estate is divided into four distinct sections, covering approximately 3,000 acres, and represents HCIL’s vision of diversified, sustainable farming inclusive of Rice Cultivation, Cash Crops, Livestock & Animal Husbandry.
Roughly 200 acres of the estate are used for livestock—including cattle, goats, and pigs—integrated into a sustainable farming approach
Approximately 1,228 acres of Hope Estate are dedicated to cash crops, cultivated by some 302 tenant farmers.
Hope Coconut Industries Limited provides small‑scale farmers access to essential agricultural machinery—such as tractors, excavators, and tillage tools—at subsidized rental rates.
HCIL has recently expanded into agro‑processing, investing in facilities like Guyana’s first public dehydration plant (processing 80 kg/hr) and coconut shredders to turn husks into coconut fiber and coco pete. These products are ideal for the use in growing seedlings as well as mulch.
Through partnerships with CARDI and NAREI, HCIL regularly hosts training programs and outreach workshops that equip farmers with modern agronomic skills and introduce improved crop varieties and techniques
